I'm thining about throwing something together at the Clay Stage sometime in May or June. It'll be a free show because I don't have to pay squat for it.

I was wondering who would be up for it and what bands in the CNY area would want to play it. Since it's free and the Town of Clay does not want me to charge a price at all I wouldn't be able to pay bands much at all.

I know it's very early for this but the ToC wants me to call back about it sometime in the near future.

According to the guy I chatted with there can be NO..
cover charge
moshing (Not that I'm complaining)

There will be...
Police/Security (at their expense)

I'm looking for some people who can help out a bit maybe be able to get food or something and many people to promote the hell out of it if this does, in fact, happen.

The Argo-Nots would be honored to play, since it is our home turf and we saw a pretty sweet concert there once. We don't expect any pay so that works out fine. Check out our mysapce if you get a chance and leave a message there or just e-mail me. Thanks for the offer.

Don't you mean the bands definitely won't get paid?

Also, will the town provide a good PA system, along with an experienced sound engineer to run it? That's really important on an outdoor show.

Likewise, will there be any weather protection for the bands and kids that go? You have to plan shows like that so far in advance, you really have no idea what the weather will be like the day you have it. That's why I've never tried an outdoor show.

Nate: if you need money for bands and sound you probably just need to clarify that to the Town. You would make the price just cheap enough so you can cover those things and if the town still doesn't like it, then you can offer any extra money to them or have a donation person walk around as a last resort.

I think it would be fine to keep it free.

Don't worry about paying bigger bands to play. Keep it generally all high school bands and you won't have that problem. If you have enough high school bands and they get all their friends to come it would still be alot of fun.

THat's what I was planning on. Orgionally I wanted a national act but i wouldn't be able to pay them because of the town's rukes.
