Sorry for those who've seen the previous thread and got confused as to where it went. A few minor details had to be worked out but now everything is clear so check it out:

I'm sure you all have noticed Kingston Beat Productions's show flyers are lacking in creativity. Designs repeat and no matter how much you love checker board patterns the border is getting old fast. This is what happens when you have a limited number of resources.

Here is your mission: Design a flyer for the upcoming show on December 27th and the best one will be used online and possibly in print to advertise the show. The winner will also get in free to the show.

*It is not that we are desperate for a flyer; what we want is to eventually find someone to design all our flyers. That someone needs to be a good graphic artist who wants to regularly help out and be an important part of our scene. I hope that from this I'll be able to get in contact with a number of people who are possible candidates.*

The flyer MUST HAVE all the band's names, the date, time, price, all ages, location, kingston beat productions, and syracuseska.com on it.

So start working on flyers and check out my profile for the e-mail to send your file to. Do not send your file to Danny, I am collecting the flyers for this contest. It would be awesome if everybody had their flyers in by Saturday December 17th.

To clarify, I'll have a flyer for this show in the next day or two. But it's a good exercise to see what you can do for a show flyer and we'll hopefully still be able to use it. Johanna will screen them, but I get the final say.

I've done this before with little success, but we have a lot of new faces involved now, so hopefully we'll find a good graphics person this time. I sure hope so, because I'm getting even busier in other areas. Just don't have the time to make good-looking flyers, sorry.

Depending on how good your skills are and how much use we can get of them, we can do more than free shows. Like Johanna said, this is an attempt to find a person who can do this on an ongoing basis, not just a one shot deal.

Anxious to see what some of you can do. :D

I have print-quality photos of The Flamingos and Razbari Sumthing on Flickr and logos on Photobucket (Flickr's terms of service restrict users to photography only.)

Email or private message me if you want the cover graphic from The Great Distraction - it's 2 MB and doesn't fit in either service.

If that doesn't fire your creativity, check out the photos on the band sites, flip through http://flickr.com for ideas, or you can find print-quality, royalty-free stock photography at http://yotophoto.com/. (The flamingo shape on my flyer was a stock photo of a neon lamp.)

You don't need sophisticated gear, either. I use Paint Shop Pro 6 (they're up to version 10 now) on a 400Mhz Dell, then print it out on a $60 inkjet. It took me some trial and error to work out the controls and things like pixels per inch or color depth, but you don't have to be a fine arts or graphic design student to take a stab at it.
