...so we could have the great honor of getting spammed by him (or one of his minions.)

He wants to join the conversation, that's cool.

But registering just so you can post an ad for a show thousands of miles away from the board's actual participants is lame.

's not all bad, though. Means people who actually take time to start dialogue with their audience get a more positive reaction.

I'm not. The American ska scene is growing again and we're all posting on each others' messageboards. I'm glad it's happening again.

One of his minions!? Chris is a very DIY kinda guy. I've never heard of him having "minions". I also don't consider posting shows like this to be "spam" and since I admin this forum, I get to decide what is and isn't spam here.

I disagree. Even a casual glance at this forum demonstrates we have a global interest in ska. I've personally cultivated contacts from coast to coast and will only be expanding on that in 2006. Syracuse University has students from Southern California and if several of us here are planning to travel to Las Vegas for the Int'l Ska Circus, it's not so odd a thought that some of us might travel to LA for the 3rd anniversary of the Bluebeat Lounge too.

Razbari Sumthing intends to pound California on tour next summer, including a stop of course at Chris Murray's Bluebeat Lounge in Hollywood. But we're looking to spend days doing shows around LA, not just a one shot deal. It's a huge ska scene there, quite diverse and spread out.

The ska scene in Syracuse NY intends in 2006 to be much more closely integrated into the greater American ska scene. If those most involved in the Rochester ska scene (which are the ones questioning here) don't have ambitions like that, no problem. 8)

Agreed. I'm glad you at least see that benefit.

On the topic of Chris Murray, the video of him and Matt Embree doing "Monkey Man" acoustic is amazing.

You completely missed my point.

connection = dialogue (he talks, we talk, he responds)

cultivatah's post = monologue (he talks, we talk, end of line)

If he comes back and responds to the thread, that's different.

How does it build ties for ska "royalty" to post their decrees, then shuffle back to their realms?

If being part of the "greater scene" means listening but being ignored, then you can have it.

I KNOW he has minion's. Do you really think that it is him running his myspace?

I also know that I utterly despise most of the American scene and I really don't wanna integrate with the f*ck hypocritical idiots it has in it.

Look at the lowly Ska Boss, hardly even master of a minor fiefdom.

Yet I have minions.

And Danny has minions. Nobody does this stuff alone.

I just like the word "minions".

And I dream of greater things, like a secret volcano lair from which to launch my diabolical plots.

Do you think Blofeld just got a scar and came up with a spiffy acronym and that was it? That he paid the down payment on that secret volcano lair by himself?

Of course not! Remember, there's no "I" in SPECTRE. Spacejacking is a huge job to tackle alone.

Hence, minions.

I can't afford the down payment on their dental plan.

So I have to work with minions and upgrade them to ninja henchmen later.
