Thanks for hosting this again Brian. The last one was crazy and I'm looking forward to the one this Friday as well. Maybe we won't break a futon this time.

Yeah.. umm.. I got an "invite" to this on MySpace, and I don't really understand why. 1) only 17 2) don't like parties 3) no beer, thank you very much 4) I've never been asked to go to one before

So yeah, I just deleted it and moved on to some random stupid invite I had that isn't important or means anything at all.

Being offended about recieving an invite is silly.

Oh I wasn't offended. I was just confused. Like, it showed up, and I just kind of looked at it for a minute and figured it had been a mistake or something.

WHOA.

There wasn't the greatest turnout (last minute bookings are like that), but this might have been the most fun show that RazSum has ever played. I especially enjoyed Chris being off-the-hook tonight. I mean, he was playing his guitar with his teeth at one point. I've never seen Chris so crazy. It was refreshing, actually.

It was so awesome to see an expanded version of RazSum -- several people at the party just grabbed instruments and joined them, incl Pat who clearly couldn't play guitar (he was the crowd surfing maniac last time), but didn't let that stop him what-so-ever. Brian Leigh was NUTS too. I've never seen him yelling like that before. Now I get why he plays rugby, lol.

Okay, yeah, I was skanking with my back on the floor, so what of it???

Anyways, RazSum goes for the big finish with "End of Time", getting to the dramatic conclusion of the set, when all of a sudden, someone (Chris?) yells out, "if you're under 21, you need to leave like NOW!!!!". That's when we notice the cops coming in the back door. Long story short, a bunch of us ran out the front door and hung out for quite awhile on the street outside (it's heavily snowing right now) and we watch them place someone in the back of a cop car (that's how they arrest you without actually taking you to the station) for like forever. Then SU Security shows up and we're out front talking to kids from the show that loved RazSum and are promising to come to the Westcott show next Friday. Just wacky, wacky, wacky.

Apparently, they're citing everyone in the house for underage drinking (they only found one kid, but that's enough) and for violating the noise ordinance. Mike went and got my coat and the band is mostly packed up (they're not bothering the band, thank gawd), but it's just silliness. But we feel bad about the guys who helped put this on. I guess we'll know tomorrow what happened to them.

I only got to see Jackie Falk play before RazSum, but she rocked as she always does.

What a crazy night the week before the CD release party ...

i've been to house partys at su w/ bands in basements where the band had soundproofed it for practice w/ lots of insulation and even some matresses! long story short the neighbors couldnt hear the music and the partys went on fine. similarly in an attic on euclid. well soundproofed band space could barely tell a band was inside from the street, a

Other than that part though, it sounds like it was fun.

Just got off the phone with Brian ...

All that happened is that the 5 of them that live there each got individually cited for violating the city noise ordinance. The freshman kid who was drinking when the cops found him was cited for that, but no one in the house. And apparently they took that kid back to his dorm.

The guys in the house will most likely do community service (possibly at the Westcott, since its quite popular for that) to work this off. Not fun, but not the end of the world either.

University-area break-ins may be tied to parties

Police believe burglars may have been checking out homes to steal from.

Syracuse police believe the 10 students' homes burglarized over Thanksgiving break may not have been chosen at random.

"Some of the houses are notorious for having parties," Lt. Joe Cecile said.

Police now believe the burglar or burglars may have scoped out the homes while attending parties inside.

"Some of the houses are the houses that routinely have parties throughout the year," Cecile said. "When you do that, you have no idea who is coming into your house and their reason for coming in. It's not all just students who come for a drink."

At least 10 homes were burglarized last week while the students who live in them were out of town for Thanksgiving. The burglars stole cash, video game consoles, DVDs and sports jerseys from the homes, most of which are on the 700 block of Euclid Avenue and the 800 block of Sumner Avenue.

Police say they believe the burglaries took place between Nov. 25 and Nov. 27 or 28. No suspects have been identified.

Syracuse University campus police said all but one of the break-ins occurred while the homes were empty. The thieves gained entry into the houses by breaking windows or side doors, public safety officials said. One burglar surprised a sleeping student, but fled immediately.

Syracuse police arrested one man last week after they found him sneaking through backyards on Sumner Avenue with a hammer, but are not sure whether he was involved in any of the burglaries in the neighborhood.

Abdul Bell, 24, of 747 Sumner Ave., was charged Nov. 25 with possession of burglary tools and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors, as well as trespassing, a violation. Lt. Joe Cecile said Bell tried to run from police when they confronted him.
