Was just at Funk'n Waffles tonight with both owners there and they said they are NOT moving to Westcott Street. The deal was just getting more and more bizarre once Subway got involved, so they are going to hang at their current location on a month-to-month lease in the fall until they can find a new location they feel good about, however long that takes.
And for anyone that doesn't realize what this is all about ... the owner of the commercial strip where Funk'n Waffles is now won't give out new leases to anyone there, because he intends at some point to rip the whole building out and start new. There is just no timetable for when that will happen and their current lease runs out this fall, so it was go to a month-to-month or move out.
Yeah, Subway on Westcott Street next to Papa Johns blows. The irony is that if businesses like Boom Babies and Alto Cinco hadn't moved there in the first place and done so well, these chains would have never been interested in being there. And yet if too many chain stores move in, there becomes fewer reasons for people to make a special trip to Westcott Street.
