small crowd i guess due to short notice, but a nice show still. hotsteppers
opened WITH joe bassy MINUS Jah Eyes who was supposed to sit in.
didnt stay till the end, but people seemed to be having fun dancing and listening to a top notch act. they play a nice mix of styles. it was in a roomy colllege cafeteria + the bass bins were kinda farty. The sound was loud, but the band was excellent as always. nice to meet karenjacktastic and see ska danny, ras a

Yeah, very small crowd in a really big room. But the average age was probably about 18-19 and they were enthusiastic. It was good to see some of the small, but faithful Utica-Rome ska scene out.

The Slackers set kinda mystified me though. They did several new tunes, mixed with mostly newer material more on the reggae side. I was surprised how few of their standard playlist they ended up doing, at least until the encore. They played almost none of their popular singles tonight. The stage banter was entertaining as usual, a mix of barbs at GW Bush and some inside jokes, including about a dildo (Vic: "can you say 'dildo' at a community college?").

Nice to see some SU representation there too.

Thanks again to Karen for the ride.

Okay, time to get some rest for a long day tomorrow ...
