If they have an album called "Please Pass the Virgin" and you have it can you put it up for me to grab?

Thank you.

We should start a list of bands Mike hates.

I bet you it will be 40 times larger than bands MIke hates.

OH Mike hates this band btw.

DOGGOD!

pass the virgin was the name of their "self titled" label or publishing.

They only had 3...
"God Bless Satan"
"Maximum Perversion"
"Migh-ty Whi-ty" (edit: this one is not great at all)

My friend is looking for one of them. I used to have them all but got bored with them and deleted everything.
Can you send me the one I want after I find out what it is?

:elephant: are my favorite animal by the way.

"God Bless Satan" is their classic album. Moon Records release #666. Their hit song "Bumble Bee Tuna" is song #13. BTW, it's properly spelled Mephiskapheles and I changed the title of the thread to reflect that. You'll also note from that link that Tom forgot "Maximum Perversion".

Their slogan used to be "Satanic ska for the whole family!". And yes, they did a short tour with a Christian ska band. It makes perfect sense, if you think about it -- believing in Satan makes Christianity more meaningful.

That's not entirely true.
But I'm going to lunch and will fill in later.

When you have lunch with Satan, give him our regards.

Yeah - I didn't forget - I just am cognitively challenged and called it "Mephiskapheles" for some real asinine reason ....doi!!!!! :hoops:

Anyways...
Belief in Satan and "Hell" as it was conceived after Jesus's death is more of an incentive to follow the teachings of Jesus. It does not lead to a genuine faith, but rather fear of not following Jesus's teachings.

It is through fully, genuinely loving God, your neighbor and showing respect for your enemies that makes Christian faith meaningful. Fear of hell is NOT what the early church preached.

Nate, how can you try to seriously discuss theology in a thread about a band named with a ska pun based on an alternative name for Satan? :jester:

And I'll warn you right now that several of us here can intelligently discuss theology as well, but we know better than to inflict it on most people. A really cool priest I used to know was fond of saying that the discussion of theology messes up faith for most people and I'd tend to agree.

Yeah, conceptualizing faith is a big no no.
But what I said just before wasn't conceptualization.

That's just because you don't get around enough. :geek:

Seriously, do you *really* want us to get into a theology discussion here? Or a deep discussion of economics? Or the finer points of artichoke farming? I can semi-intelligently discuss almost anything and clearly so can others here. But there's a point where I envision everyones eyes glazing over ...

I sincerely believe that progressive politics and ska are intimately connected, but I get mostly silence when I raise political issues here. So, I'm not inclined to bring up far more tangential subjects. Just sayin'.

And then there is me and pat who purposefully go out of our way to argue irrationally.
