got this a couiple of weeks ago. It is great!

they pretty much threw away their previous album's (wild peace) concept of producing a cd of singles with some of japan's hippest and newest rising star vocalist and just took some time to record a bunch of different styles of ska influenced music including some mento, some skinhead reggae, some latin ska, a straight up jazz tune and of course a ska punkish tune called Pride Of Lions featuring the singer from Kemuri (the overall sound of the tune kind of reminds me as the bosstones). Good stuff. Not their best album, but their best in a while.

you rule for bringing up this band. did you have to order it overseas or did you get it through amazon? All i have in cd form is ska me crazy, but there are so many great TSPO albums out there. Gotta say though hai no shiro is on the top of my favorite songs of all time.

how much did it cost you?

I have two of their cds in my getfile.

Kemuri that is, not Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra. Cause, ya know, I listen to good music

This one.. quite a bit actually, but I wanted the grab the special edition that was coming out with the live disc. its on ebay for $27 or so (shipping included), but it was going for something like $35.

I've actually got all the albums (with the exception of a real copy of the 2nd besst of edition that just came out last year) on CD, and id say something close to half of the singles too. As well as 4 dvds (2 came with cds though). I've bought a fair amount of them from ebay and CD Japan, but I'm lucky too as there's a 2nd hand japanese book store in NYC that sells their cds used for about $15 - $20. Not a bad deal when you factor in shipping and all that stuff. Let me know what you're looking for (as ska me crazy is just a comp), and I'll see if I can find it for you.

Cheers,
Chris

Definitely -- ever notice that the Japanese have a strong sense of style?

BTW, major props for bringing up TSPO aka Skapara.

I really wish I could afford to buy all their stuff like Chris has done. All good stuff, but all very expensive, especially if you buy it from Japan. I'm also dying to see them live some time. Didn't they do a free show in Central Park in NYC a few years back?

again see my comment about the 2nd hand store near me :)

and yes they did play a free show in central park in 2005. They also played a show at a small club called SOBs (sounds of brazil) in NYC in 2004. Both were among the best shows I've ever been to.
