at all the shows i've been to, it's really a melting pot of all sorts of musical styles and preferences. And i'm not just talking about the bands that play. I'm more talking about the people that go to see them. A lot of them, including me, are very interested in the Indie scene. As far as i know, there are few shows in upstate to quench this desire. Is there any possibility that syracuseska.com and its affiliates could put in an effort to give more exposure to the Indie scene?

Syracuseska.com already gives exposure to local acoustic and jazz musicians trying to get spots and times to play. In fact one of the common venues we all go to see ska shows, the Wescott Community Center, has hosted some emo bands in the past.

So, for all those who love bands like The Decemberists, The Arcade Fire, Rufus Wainright (pardon the spelling), Dresden Dolls, Violent Femmes, and other such bands; please voice your opinion on increasing upstate's Indie exposure!
thanks...
sincerely, you're fellow indie snob

I hate the decemberists.

The arcade fire does not really tickle my pickle either.

But I love Engine Down/Jaga Jazzist/Explosions in the Sky/Further Seems Forever/Sufjan Stevens, more powerful, forward, less "Look, I'm British" indie rock.

Locally my favorite indie group right now is Mandate of Heaven.

Indie snob and The Decemberists shouldn't be in the same sentence together!

But, yeah... I'm all about seeing GOOD indie rock on shows. But then again... there's plenty of cool indie rock shows around here happening in hole in the wall spots. Enough that I wont complain about a lack of such shows.

I'm all for bands getting exposure, but indie isn't my thing.

uh the Westcott has had MANY MANY different types of bands play.

and the way i see it, I don't care about indie rock. I care about independent music but not the genre of indie.

I don't know exactally what you mean by more exposure? Any show other than ska you wanna know about would probably be on the 315hardcore.com message board. Do you need someone to tell you when/where shows are?
