So I was wondering if the Rochester natives good recommend a good used record store to me. Obviously I'm looking for ska, and punk mostly. I know about the Record Archives, I'm actually heading over there in a bit, but if you know of an amazing hole in the wall place, please let me know!

I think Rochester might have a Record Theater.

That place always ruled in Syracuse...till it boarded up.

The Record Theater in Rochester is pretty crappy, the one in Buffalo is amazing though.

Now it's like a dollar general or something.
I'm very unhappy about it.

Yea, that place supplied me with cheap and amazing cds. Time after time I'd go in spend over an hour sifting through the used selection and always finding more than I could afford. I'd go in and come out with like 3 cds and be like 10 bucks poorer.

My best find ever was at the Record Theater in Buffalo:

The Pilfers s/t CD for $1.50, and when I opened it up, it had Coolie's autograph in it.

If you dig trad ska, The Bop Shop has a good reggae section, and also great jazz, blues and other obscure music sections.

Are there any good record stores in Syracuse still? The Sound Garden is ok, but I miss Oliver's...I saw a sign today on Irving (by Quiznos) for some new sounding place, is it any good?

By the way I picked up that Bedouin Soundclash CD for about 4 bucks shipped on half.com, it's good stuff. (The reason I'm saying this is because there were a ton of copies available for that price..if anyone else is interested)

Karenjacktastic, do you have Coolie's solo demo? He was including handwritten notes with them a while ago, I laughed my ass off. He forgot if he had sent mine or not, so he sent another with a note saying to give it to a friend if I already received it. I already gave that copy away, but if anybody would like to hear it I can send it sometime (if it's not available from him anymore).
