So I'm sure this has happened to everyone, you hear a band you like is playing a show, but the openers don't sound too impressive, but you get there and one (or all) of them blow you away.

My question is this, which is the one opening band you thought you would hate, but you actually ended up loving?

For me it is definately El Pus. The first time I saw them I was certain I would never ever like them, but the more I saw them, the more I enjoyed them, and now I find myself listening to them a lot. Never thought it was my style, but it's good music, so I listen to it.

Whole Wheat Bread. I only liked a few of their songs when they opened at the Streetlight show in Rochester back in July. But then a few weeks ago I was at Sound Garden, and I found their CD their for $1, so I said 'hell, why not' and I bought it. I've listened to it a few times, and it really isn't so bad.

And, yeah, when I heard that El Pus was more of a hip-hop band, I wasn't too sure about them. But then they opened for RBF and they were friggin' awesome! They had such great energy, and they really got the crowd into their show. I just enjoyed every aspect of their set. :)

What is with you kids and your hatin' on the hip-hop?

Next road trip I'm introducing you to some GOOD hip-hop, like Blackalicious, The Roots and Wu-Tang Clan.

Gym Class Heroes. By the end of the SM tour they did, I really had started to dig them.

Get this: Flogging Molly. I had heard "Rebels of the Sacred Heart" on a compilation and didn't make it passed the intro because I couldn't stand his voice there. Then I saw FM open for the Bouncing Souls and to this day, it's still one of the better shows I've ever been to...

I think I'm jealous.
In fact, I know I'm jealous.

Similar experience here. I downloaded some FM tracks, wasn't impressed.

Went to see them on a lark.

Whoa daddy. Hell of a live show.

If they come to town, I'm there, but I still don''t own any of their CDs.

(although I really like "Seven Deadly Sins")

yeah man, i saw them at the warped tour... quite possibly the best live performance ive seen, although it was short. ive listened to them for a long time, since i was in 7th or 8th grade. theyve always been a favorite. ive got swagger on cd and i got the vinyl drunken lullabies. theyre very worth the purchase price.

I didn't get into Against Me! until I saw them live, but they were headlining, so I don't think it counts.

I do enjoy Whole Wheat Bread.

PS I have three Wu Tang Clan CDs around here somewhere. It's really good stuff.

I've never actually seen or listened to Against Me!, but I have met the guys and they were really nice to me, so I like them as people. They gave me all the hugs I wanted and they were really fun to hang out with. Hehe, I feel bad though, I avoided talking about their music in every way possible, because I don't know it.

I have a couple of their CDs if you want me to send them to you or something. Or I can burn copies and give them to you the next time I see you, but who knows when that will be.

El Pus, without a doubt.

And I suppose Just Surrender falls into this category too..after seeing them so much in such a short period of time, it grows on you.

I thought I would hate The Epoxies when I went to see them with The Aquabats in Buffalo. I really liked them though.
