the catch 22 that made keasby nights reuniting again would make me like catch 22 again
That'd be interesting. As time progresses, it get less and less unlikely, but I still dont' see it happening. The bands (erm, i guess this doesn't make sense saying it like that because only tomas is left in SM- josh and jamie left) are on decent terms though, so I don't know. Kevin is actually the booking agent for Streetlight. I personally think that Ska is Dead IV should be a co headline Streetlight/Catch 22 tour where they're both on stage at the same time and go back and forth playing songs...
And yeah, The Movielife was always amazing. I only got to see them like 14 times, but they kept me interested every show. I actually really, really miss them. But I Am The Avalanche, in terms of their sound and live show, has really kind of gone in the direction that The Movielife was headed. I expect a really strong album from IatA in late September.
I think I feel about the Movielife, ironically the same way I do about the original Catch 22 line-up breaking up. Since SM and BOTAR came about, I've been pretty adamant in my feeling that I was glad Tom and the other guys left C22 because if they hadn't, we may never have gotten any of the stuff Tomas has put out since. Not to mention, Alone In A Crowd wouldn't sound anything like it does, and that's an amazing album. And Dinosaur Sounds, despite not being my favorite, is a pretty solid release. So, yeah, if the Movielife had never broken up, I would never have gotten to hear Nightmare of You which is a band I seriously adore. The album they're putting out mid-September is great. And, I also never would have had I am the Avalanche. So, I guess things happen for a reason. I'm glad all these people are still putting music out there.
Think about it: If Operation Ivy never broke up, we wouldn't have Rancid, Dance Hall Crashers, or Common Rider (amongst others).
