Justin of Mrs. Skannotto is assembling one as the core of a monthly event. Plan is for a rotating lineup, so the minimum commitment would be to learn the arrangements on your own, then two or three full rehearsals before the show. Set list would revolve around a theme - Toots and the Maytals covers one month, Skatalites the next, and so on.

Interested parties should contact Justin - jhlska (at) hotmail dot com

And if anyone in Syracuse is interested in the same thing, email me and we'll talk about it. I have a couple of good venues where we can do this in Syracuse. You should have some familarity with 60s ska like The Skatalites, Desmond Dekker, Toots & the Maytals, etc.

I'd be curious if anyone also has an interest in a 2-tone cover band, playing songs by The Specials, Madness, The Beat and others.

Email me at danny@wxxe.org if you live near Syracuse and are interested in playing in such a cover band.

:shock:
::RAISES HAND::

Practices 1-2 times a week for a few hours for a regular I can't do.

But learning music on my own and getting together a couple times and just going out and playing once a month? That I can do.

Sax, Flute, Guitar, Bass. Take your pick. I know 'em all.

:D :D :D

I don't know if you'd want me to, but I'd gladly play sax. That'd be so much fun.

I would also be intested in playing some T-bone if needed.

The way this was sounding to me (at least in Rochester) is that they're particularly looking to not have a set line-up. So anyone who's interested can squeeze in any time, pretty much.

I think it might be a good idea to try and keep the rhythm section kind of static, as it'll give a chance to get to know how the others play.

I'll be strumming.

This is very early in development, and it depends on how the logistics work out, but that's a good idea.

I'm really happy at the response so far, so I urge anyone even remotely interested to contact Justin at jhlska@hotmail.com

Let's get this town to do the ska!

I'm quite happy with the Syracuse response as well. Keep those emails coming to danny@wxxe.org :D
