Holy shizz... Sarcrelcious - Dry Campus? Man, I haven't heard that tape in years. That was recorded 6.5 years ago! God I feel old. Interesting enough, pieces of that band still live on in The Ops & The Directive. Cool stuff.

Cheers,

Al

Yeah, I got a request to hear some DLO and since I was dusting off the old cassette tapes for that request anyway, I went ahead and played some more stuff from that general era.

I still recall vividly seeing Sacrelicious at No Borders, No Boundaries on Marshall Street with Larissa. One of the songs was about Peter's Groceries, I believe? What a great, great set.

I ran out of time this week, but since I re-discovered it honoring that specific request, I'm going to play Swanky Modes next week. Easily one of the most gawdawful recordings in human history, right from Upstate NY! Sooooo bad, it's hilarious!!!! (Ever notice that unintentional hilarity is always better than intentional?)

Annnnnnnnd ... I found some really old demos from The Know How, Too Short Notice, etc. I need to make copies of them just so the younger bands realize there really IS hope. It's amazing how far bands like those have come ...

Bahaha. I remember hearing the Swanky Modes one time.

Talk about bad - somewhere floating around is one copy of the Skalapenos set that you saw, recorded off the board. So to my recollection, it's not an awful recording. I used to have it, and passed it off to another former member, and have had no luck getting it back...

I recall that first ever set for the SkalapeƱos at the Penny Arcade was actually quite good. Very short (5 songs?), but quite good. I'd be quite curous if you ever got ahold of that recording again.

BTW, if you ever run across Jav, I'm still waiting to listen to his copy of "Upstate Skank" by Bahama Mama too.

Man, I haven't seen him in a couple of years. I think since Dave Hillyard played Monty's Krown.

My recollection of that show is that it was ok, but we had practiced too much earlier in the day and my chops were nearly spent. That and that my girlfriend at the time told me every time I stepped to the mic and wasn't playing, I'd grab my junk.

That's why I play guitar now.
