i am fairly new to gmail and while i like the storage heres what i hate

it docks all your emails together both your one going out and all subsequent responses. lets say i want to throw out reply #4.. IT THROWS THEM ALL OUT! that is so obnoxious. i can see that you can flatten emails into jsut titles or spread them out individually, but HOw do you unlink them so they dont all get tossed when you want to just toss one. the "move to trash" pop up option only seems to be at the top post and not on each individual responses. HAAAALP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thnx in adv' a

Never mind

How do I trash an individual message?
If you need to throw away just one message in a conversation, click 'Show options' within the message you don't want to keep. Under the message header, click 'Trash this message.' The individual message is sent to 'Trash,' and the rest of the conversation stays in your inbox.

but if anyone knows how to undock the emails i'd like to know that, thnx

I've been using Gmail for awhile now and it has its pluses and minuses, like anything else. It's been hard for me to get used to not having folders anymore. I really miss them. So instead, you get really busy with the search function.

Um, why do you want to "undock" the emails? It's really the only organization you get with Gmail. But I'm quite liberal with changing the subject lines, because otherwise it can get confusing when the subject of the email really either isn't clear in the first place or its no longer really descriptive of what you're discussing. You also need to get comfortable with that pulldown menu.

???

Labels and filters are a huge help organizing - myspace notifiers automatically get tagged and archived, messages from bands/agents about an upcoming show get starred, etc. Saves a lot of time dealing with incoming mail and searching for old messages.

And I'm thrilled they finally added Contact Groups, which is such a "duh!" feature.
