I know this is probably a little out of the way for some of you but...
On May 20th, the Rotary Interact Club at my school (Rome Free Academy) is having a fundraiser to benefit Gabriel Bol Deng's efforts to build a school in his native Sudan. As you may already know, Gabriel was one of the Lost Boys of Sudan that fled from genocide, and eventually ended up in Syracuse.
We're having a pasta dinner at 5:00 PM on the 20th, with all proceeds going to Gabriel. Tickets are $10 each, with a limited number of seats available. (PM me if you want one)
After the dinner, at 6:00, Gabriel will be giving a presentation about his journey and what he hopes to accomplish. That part is free, if the price tag of the dinner is a little too high for you but you still want to support the cause.
So if you want to take a trip down and support Gabriel, we would greatly appreciate it, and I'm sure he would as well. Below is a link for the event on Facebook, if thats your style. There are also links on Gabriel's past and on his mission.
