Are the Flaming Tsunamis really the headliner on this? I've just been really curious about that.

i think he just finds it suprising considering the types of bands USUALLY on vc shows. however, from my understanding, this was booked for a weekend when django wont actually be around to run the show.

In the area, it's probably true.

I'm taking credit for two bands being on this bill. It was my idea for SB6 to contact Django about playing the show, and I don't think Django knew who TFT were until I joined.

Just seemed an odd headliner for Version City was all. It seems like Django is really trying to attract younger kids now and I can't imagine the Knitting Factory is too enthused about that. Its definitely not the orientation that 3 Floors of Ska has had.

They're definitely an awkward headliner for a VC party, but it's only this one show. Django has booked lots of bands you wouldn't expect on these shows. Me and the In The Face opened for Dr. Ring Ding. There's still enough trad/reggae and VC staples (Bomb Town) for the usual crowd to show up. I doubt people will be avoid the show because TFT is playing, and if anything, it'll serve to bring new people into the crowd of regulars.

Trust me, I'm down for mixing up styles at shows. :P

Would've been good if In The Face played the only two songs I remember by them. Also, you left before Ring Ding. You f*ck up.

Not quite sure i can follow you here travis. TFT has a VERY strong following in the north east. Its not the crew that usually comes out to version city shows, but as its been stated, that may not be such a bad thing.

As for the knitting factory attracting younger audiences, I'm not sure that this is necessarilly something they mind. They're getting bodies in the door, and even if the kids aren't drinking at the show, they'll keep coming back, and today's high school/college student is tomorrow's social drinker. Not that they go out plotting to get new kids to start drinking, but providing an atmosphere where kids have a good time, at an openly all ages venue, means they'll come back when they grow up.

If only more venues took that perspective...
