Corporation is political punk-ska. Very political.

Image

The Big Man Himself is ska-rock with a poppy edge.

Image

Stop Drop N Skank is ska-punk with an indie rock flavor.

We're suddenly getting interest from the younger Toronto bands in playing down here. Let me know here or via email skadanny@kingstonbeat.com if you'd like to help book any of these bands near you, as we'll need more than a Syracuse show to make these work. :P

These bands seem semi interesting.
Will check out later.

They better not suck.

Oh and what the f*ck is up with Canadian bands being political? All Canadian political songs should be "AT LEAST WE AINT AMERICA OI OI OI!"

Maybe in America, but they're Canadian and never got that memo. It got caught at the border.

I'm kinda hoping some of you might use the links to the bands and comment on the music.

i think political songs are more important than ever nowadays- you know with the war goin on and spitzer screwin $5000 hoes and all the constructive semantics of the candidates and all the money wasted on ron pauls failed campaign (let alone huckabee, romney, edwards, every other sorry sucker involved in politricks).... i just kinda think punk got stupid around 2002, but thats prob because i lost interest around then and became an old fogie

Political punk died with the Suicide Machines and NOFX's War on Errorism.

Yeah.

And as much as I love the Suicide Machines, I think their political lyrics are embarassingly simplistic.

The first band is awful. They are jockin Leftover Crack/Choking Victim's nuts so hard. From the chords they use, the bass tone, and the vocals. Shit. I think they even ripped off a few riffs of theirs.

Okay, a bunch of flea ridden squatter junkie punx singing those songs. Fine. A bunch of young white kids who live with their parents in the suburbs singing those songs?

Kind of absurd.

The second band has some promise. Way sloppy and loose (insert mom jokes here) on those recordings.

And the 3rd band is pretty good. I'd go see them if they ever came through.

At first money machine sounded alright with the guitar.. then the rest of the band kicked in.
Not worth listening to after that drumroll. Dudes are bad.

2nd band, worth listening to. I think so at least, I definitely would come out to see them if you booked 'em. Would love to play with them too. They have some interesting harmonies amongst them, plus they have lots of girls.

3rd band.
I like everything except for the vocals.

Like most bands we know, apparently all these bands sound much better live than online. That really shouldn't surprise anyone by now.

Stop Drop N Skank is playing Ska Prom, so check them out there and see what you think. I like the vocals myself. And I think they have an interesting approach overall.
