So if you could see ONE band (that broke up, went on break, etc.) get back together and play a show, who would it be? (I mean that it's actually possible, eg. all the members are still alive)

Me?

Even though ASOB are reuiniting in October in Long Island, I want them to come and reunite again at my house. That would be the best.

And if that doesn't count, then probably The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

Ska-ish type band?

Sublime. I never got to see them, and would LOVE to.

Any kind of band?

His Hero Is Gone. Best show I ever went to was HHIG in Philly years and years ago.

Or, Fifteen/Crimpshrine.

Um, she said the members all had to be alive. Last I checked, Brad Nowell died and that's why they broke up.

ASOB wasn't broken up. They just didn't play shows. They're breaking up in the fall probably after the release of 3CFD, but they haven't really announced that they're done despite the fact that the inevitable is obvious.

On another note, if I'm confined to ska-ish bands, Operation Ivy or in a few years, Edna's Goldfish again.

If we're going with bands that aren't really broken up but haven't done anything in a long time (aka: they did two left coast shows in november) my answer definitely goes to the Dance Hall Crashers.

If I have a full range of all bands that actually are broken up (thus, excluding ASOB/DHC), my answer is a flat out, emo-as-Danny gets, The Movielife.

(I saw I Am The Avalanche today and they were absolutely astounding. New album September 27th. I'm excited. The new Nightmare of You album that's out September 16th is really good too.)

I'd like to see the original lineup of The Specials.

After them, Operation Ivy.

Dance Hall Crashers seem to do shows now & then, much as Hepcat does, so they're not really broken up at this point. But Skavoovie & the Epitones would be nice to see too.

Though Joe Strummer may be dead in body, his spirit lives on forever. And with that said I'd have to say The Clash.

And because that won't satisfy half of you I'll also say Operation Ivy.

By the way, has Common Rider actually "officially" broken up or are they still together.

Still one of the best shows I ever went to...The Movielife in Buffalo on their last tour. I would love to see them again.

That'd be interesting. As time progresses, it get less and less unlikely, but I still dont' see it happening. The bands (erm, i guess this doesn't make sense saying it like that because only tomas is left in SM- josh and jamie left) are on decent terms though, so I don't know. Kevin is actually the booking agent for Streetlight. I personally think that Ska is Dead IV should be a co headline Streetlight/Catch 22 tour where they're both on stage at the same time and go back and forth playing songs...

And yeah, The Movielife was always amazing. I only got to see them like 14 times, but they kept me interested every show. I actually really, really miss them. But I Am The Avalanche, in terms of their sound and live show, has really kind of gone in the direction that The Movielife was headed. I expect a really strong album from IatA in late September.

I think I feel about the Movielife, ironically the same way I do about the original Catch 22 line-up breaking up. Since SM and BOTAR came about, I've been pretty adamant in my feeling that I was glad Tom and the other guys left C22 because if they hadn't, we may never have gotten any of the stuff Tomas has put out since. Not to mention, Alone In A Crowd wouldn't sound anything like it does, and that's an amazing album. And Dinosaur Sounds, despite not being my favorite, is a pretty solid release. So, yeah, if the Movielife had never broken up, I would never have gotten to hear Nightmare of You which is a band I seriously adore. The album they're putting out mid-September is great. And, I also never would have had I am the Avalanche. So, I guess things happen for a reason. I'm glad all these people are still putting music out there.

Think about it: If Operation Ivy never broke up, we wouldn't have Rancid, Dance Hall Crashers, or Common Rider (amongst others).

also...this one seems like it will happen...straighter than pete, even though it's only been one year.
