To me, this is the more interesting show at that venue:

Sunday August 7th - SKA IS UNDEAD at the Buffalo Icon.
A battle of the bands to open Catch 22 in September.

Rex Banner
Mechatama
Not On Track
Gnar Dogs Revenge
and many more.

Doors 6pm. $7 day of show only.

Because you're far far away!

Well, wait, won't you be back in time for Cath 22? Meh, whatever. I'll see if I can work out the September show, but I doubt it'll work since school will just have started.

Then again, I *should* be out and driving sans the parental units, so perhaps it can work.

Hmmm. Guess we'll see.

One of my favorite things about seeing Catch 22 is how much the crowd gets in to them.

Catch-22 is so overrated. Their live show, everytime I've seen them (including twice last weekend in Anaheim) fails to get me moving (or even singing along). They have slowed the songs down, but they are still sloppy. Half of the set is a bunch of horrible versions of Keasbey Nights' songs, and the other half are really crappy newer songs.

I'm going to put it out on the table...I don't like Catch-22. So shoot me.

However, Mechatama is awesome.

That's the best part, but it can't make up for how sloppy they are. I love going to a show where the crowd is actively participating in it, those are the shows I have by far the most fun at.

The times I've seen them (probably 4 or 5 times total now) they just seemed to be drunk as hell and not give a crap about what was going on. My personal opinion is that is disrespectful to their fans who pay 10 or 15 bucks (or more) to see them. After seeing Catch 22 a bunch of times, and then seeing Streetlight Manifesto twice there is no comparison. SM is what I was hoping for when I went to see Catch 22.

I saw Catch 22 play at Skate and Surf 2003 and they were just terrible, played too fast, made a lot of mistakes that even I caught and I'm not a real big fan of them. I've given them quite a few chances and said to myself "maybe they will be good this time" and so far they have let me down every time.

Haha. I just realized that this show is on a Tuesday, which is the night that I have marching band. And I *think* we have our first competition that weekend..

Not to mention I'm already missing rehearsal Thurs, the 11th to go to Scranton for Warped Tour to see Westbound Train.. And then I'm missing our first day of band camp because I'll be driving down from my tribe's pow-wow in Maine..

Hmm.. My director would probably be angry if I skipped rehearsal for a show...

I haven't been able to catch Streetlight yet, but they seem to be everything that Catch 22 was at one time, the way I understand it. It's gotta be hard to stay in a band for such a long time, playing the same songs. I can imagine them speeding them up or slowing them down just from sheer boredom, ya know?

I would definetly recommend seeing them. The only downside to Streetlight is, it's basically Keasesby type songs..I hope they don't keep putting out the same album over and over. I've got a video or two I took in Feb in Buffalo of Streetlight on my digital camera, but the sound isn't very good.

I'll have to bring that up at the meeting next week, see if anyone wants to carpool.

After hearing critical acclaim on Catch 22 I finally saw them last spring in fredonia, and not to toot my own horn, but their stage presence downright blows and is no comparison to the bands I have played in, and or the bands we have played with. They did move at all when they played, I am sure most of you on this forum remember the craziness of when Dan briggs and I played in Cletus doesnt Care. I def feel that they are overrated, their songs really do not come off well live. So as well, feel free to take your shots at me.
