Wow. I was at that show too. Voodoo Glow Skulls, The Pietasters and Catch 22 all played too. It was very interesting to see an all ska line-up at a big free outdoor show like that. Kinda proves that the general public really does like this music, when they get a chance to see it ...

1) Your name, where you live, some general stuff like that.
My name's Phill and I currently live in Cincinnati,OH

2) How did you get into ska?
Madness and that damned Mail Order is Fun comp got me more into the ska/punk for a little while.

3) What are some of your favorite ska bands?
Bad Manners, Madness, The Beat(Special, International, English, whatever you throw in front of Beat), Judge Dread, Desmond Dekker, Laurel Aitken, Specials, Slickers, Slackers, Toasters, lots of stuff mostly 2-Tone and Traditional.

4) What do you like about the ska scene?
Well for the most part it's a No Bullshit attitude. It's about having a good time and not who's tougher. Although I'll say I never liked the circle skanks one bit!

5) What are some of your favorite moments from shows?
Sorry ska bands nothing sticks out in my mind. Although the first time Skarmy of Darkness played Syracuse and they came out all running around Westcott CC while playing was pretty memorable. That and short lived bands like the Pink Cheetahs. Neville Staple was a great show too!

Do you remember what Neville Staple said (in his perfect British accent) when he came onstage?

"Okay. So maybe there aren't a lot of people here. F@#k it! We're here to have a good time!!!!"

That guy has so much class. :D

and I think everyone there had a GREAT time. I don't think anyone went out of that show without a smile(except maybe you Danny, but I like to think not)!

Anyone who didn't go to that by their own choice was a fool.

Awesome to see someone from Caz here!!!!

We really need to do more shows at Common Grounds in Caz. It's a great place to play ska. But I'd highly prefer to coordinate that with someone who actually lives there and could get kids to come out to see such a show.

Likewise, a student at Caz High is trying to get WITC FM (the Caz College station) straightened out, including playing more local indie music (incl ska).

For that matter, the radio show that Justine and I are doing on Sunday nights 6-9pm that most hear via the webcast is actually listenable in your part of Madison County on 90.5 FM. It'd be super exciting if you or any of your friends actually listened to it that way (BTW, we'll be upping the power very soon, because we know how weak it is now).

Please email me at danny@wxxe.org if you or any of your friends might be willing to help with any of this, okay? :D
