So far, we've been doing quite well on this lately ...

Joey Driscoll (2x so far)
Broken Racket Romance
Rick Johnson Rock & Roll Machine
Mike Park
Johnny Hero
Aiyana Catori
Hobo Slobo & the Strong Armed Jugnuts

It seems to really mix up the shows well and brings out more non-ska people to see the ska bands (and vice versa). A win-win all around.

Any new and exciting non-ska bands we can use on any of these upcoming shows?

Belarus!!!

Yet another band that Spencer is in. I was listening to their stuff on MySpace and I love them. They have a show coming up in July at the Westcott that I'm totally going to.

Oh. Duh!

John Puma and the Dangerous Horns is playing next Friday in Hanover Square at 6. I don't know if any of you know of them. They're not ska, I think they're more of a Chicago type band.

I dunno, my mom's bf is friends with John Puma, and I guess they're supposed to be good. If no one has anything else going on, you people should go check them out. Perhaps we can work with them sometime if enough kids like them. ^_^

Any psychobilly band I think would rock on a ska show. Especially if it were an older crowd aimed show. Like, having some psychobilly and trad bands play at some bar... it would be fan-f*ck-tastic!

My nipples are erect just at the thought of this.

Something like Leftover Crack would be cool.
The World/Inferno Friendship Society would be tight.
I don't know...I can't think that well now.

LOC is done with.

But, World Inferno Friendship Society...

I think kids would EAT THAT SHIT UP and beg you for seconds.

It's more like watching musical cult CHAOS... rather than going to see a band.

Excellent suggestion!

I've heard OF them before, but never really HEARD them before. I'm listening to "Our Candidate" and "All of California and Everyone Who Lives There Stinks". I like those songs a LOT. In fact, they'd be good for skanking to, even though its clearly not ska.

Do their other songs sound like that? I mean, this is not only fun stuff, but very danceable.

Also, I always assumed they'd be pricey. Any idea on that? Kinda hard to tell from their website: http://www.worldinferno.com

But hell yeah, I'd be down for something like that ...

Pricey?

Doubtful.

And yeah, it's hard for me to imagine a more danceable band.

EDIT:

The only reason they'd be pricey is because they have so many members in the band. Definitely not because they want to make money.

Seriously though. They've got to be one of my favorite bands. Most people not into ska, consider these guys a ska band. It must be the horns.

Here's an mp3 for you on one of their more popular songs:

I've booked hardcore before and will do so again -- although the last was The Old God Is Dead quite awhile back. Its always simply a function of what bands interest kids and who is available when.

But for the record, I'm not booking any band if kids really don't want to see them. That's music promotion suicide ...

SU has a million non-ska bands that would make things interesting, and the most important part is they'll play for little to nothing.

Blame Winter http://blamewinter.com/
Four Feet Away http://www.fourfeetaway.com/
The February http://www.thefebruaryrock.kiss.to/

Also we totally need to get Jounce back up here next year AKA THE BAND THAT LITTLE PETE FROM ' THE ADVENTURES OF PETE AND PETE' PLAYS IN!!! We played with them last year, and I was too scared to ask him to marry me and let me bear his children.

Jounce http://www.jounce.org/

That is all for now children. Heed my words.

As far as local non-ska goes..

You would probably do good with someone like the Degenerates.. they have a massive draw.

Or you could check out my promotional team's site for more bands:
