swing band from Marcellus H.S. making original songs and playing some cool swing standards and other things of that nature. We should be ready to start playin shows by september or october. just thought i'd throw that out there. add yet another flavor to the syracuse ska scene.

That sounds awesome. I love swing. You should hit up Swingin' in the Square in Hanover Square on Wednesday nights and see what they have to offer. They get some kick ass music there, and it's always a great time.

Swing-ska or just straight swing?

One of my favorite swing bands has to be The W's. Great Swing-Ska.

Hehe. I was reading this post yesterday at the meeting and I was looking at Rosie and smiling. I knew she'd react like that.

Oh, Rosie, darling, I love you so much.
This is why you're my best friend.
Haha.

probably a lot more towards the swing side of things. only a few of the members have expressed much interest in ska, including our saxophone player, who's brother played guitar for cletus doesnt care. but i have played the crew some t.s.c. stuff and they were pretty interested in that. we'll just have to see what happens over the next few rehearsals. we havent really found our own style, yet.

the band is forged of some of the best musicians in our school, and we are all about playin good music and havin fun. the way i see things, a group of strong musicians who are also good friends with similar musical interests, have the potential to be really good. 8)

Thanks for the encouragement and interest.

-Kyle

Swing-ska usually appeals to a wide range of people, because its swing with a twist and/or ska with a twist.

I'll be looking forward to whatever you come up with ...

Thanks for the advice danny. i was looking over some of the songs last night, and playing through them in my head, and i realized that they were kinda swing ska, cuz ska is really what i'm used to. I was trying to convince myself to keep it mostly swing, because i'm already in b.r.e., but i just cant get away from the ska sound: it has become a part of me. I'm really psyched about this group, I cant wait to play for everybody.

thanks again

kyle

Try to give me as much advance notice as you can about when you might be ready, okay? I suspect this new project will get a very good reception ...
