Tonight I got to speak at length with Chris of The Benefits. He greatly apologizes to everyone for not being very communicative lately. He's back at home for awhile where they only have dialup service and its just not terribly practical for him to be online much.
Chris tells me that The Benefits have 3 possible drummers that they can use this fall, so they feel confident they'll get a new one, no problem. But they can't decide on someone until they're all back together to practice in the fall.
He's also very enthusiastic about the idea of a college ska series at the Half Penny Pub or somewhere like it. We'd both like to see RazSum be part of that, but of course, thats ultimately up to them. And we agreed that this would be a supplement to a continuing all ages series at the Westcott and elsewhere. He's seen the comments of everyone, including the younger kids and he's very flattered. We're determined to keep the younger kids involved too.
Lastly, he's anxious for The Benefits to write some new songs. Chris was at the Polish festival and was very impressed with an accordian player there and he's hoping to expand his use of the instrument in their sets come fall.
Just figured some of you'd like to hear all this.
