Apparently with the chineese economy booming, a lot of the most basic level gold farming has shifted to Vietnam.

not too too much new info here, but still an interesting perspective from the BBC.

I played WoW for 3 level 70 characters. I sold the account for 300 bucks, and cleansed my soul. Now im in closed beta for Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning, and im afraid im going back into this dark cave that is pc gaming.

Paying for gold is ridiculous. It is expensive as hell, and if your smart, you can get whatever it is pretty easy anyway.

77 euro a month! not worth anyone's time.

In some countries that's still a fortune though.

that may be true - though it seems like an incredible effort for that amount of money --- this reminds me that I saw a craigslist posting selling services to pump up a WoW character to insane levels for money. Sounded like it was going to cost you a pretty penny more than this.

Wikipedia entry on minimum wage by country wrote:
Vietnam
official monthly minimum wage for unskilled laborers at foreign-invested joint ventures and foreign and international organizations: 1,000,000 VND in the urban districts of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City; 900,000 VND in the suburban districts of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and several other industrial districts and towns; and 800,000 VND elsewhere

XE.com wrote:
1,000,000 VND = 60.14314 USD
77.00 EUR = 112.745 USD

Which suggests that 77 euros a month is almost double the highest minimum wage payable in Vietnam. Hence, why some people there might do this activity.

This is why our less skilled jobs are going to countries like this. :rambo:
