What an interesting show on many levels. It's always fun to see how often we assume that clearly non-ska crowds may hate ska, when the record is pretty solid the other way.

Like I wish somehow I'd gotten a photo of Rory's shocked expression last night as RazSum clearly went over really big at Shooties in Watertown. Which was all the more special considering how convinced beforehand the band was that the same crowd who'd gone apeshit for Boris Karlof was gonna hate RazSum. If anything, the crowd was more out of control for RazSum (the light fixture overhead was taking a beating until the crowd was told to knock that off). It was the craziest "skanking" I've ever seen, honestly. Kind of like a wild, crazed mosh pit, really, but with very odd-looking dancing styles (what the hell was that one guy doing with that little hopping deal? and did anyone else notice the grrls upfront doing the twist?).

Clearly, there is solid interest in ska in Watertown. Now we just need to figure out the best way to do it again sometime ...

Agreed.

It was also cool amidst all the mohawks there, that one grrl was dressed mod style, in a nice vintage-looking dress and the short, straight bangs. She obviously adored RazSum.

BTW, I just found out tonight that apparently Shooties is just outside Fort Drum, which would explain a lot. Like the drunk soldiers there.
